THE KORG ELECTRIBE MS2000/B and MS2000R/BR
With the persistent need for analog synth sounds in the Dance music scene, KORG answer the call by unleashing the new MS2000 synthesizer and MS2000R rackable synth module. Built from the heritage of KORG's vintage MS monosynth of the 1970's and 1980's, the new KORG MS2000 follows in the footsteps of those highly collect KORG synths, like the MS10, MS20 and Monopoly.

The MS2000/MS2000R uses the latest analog modelling technology, to create classic "Phat" analog sounds, but unlike the single voice MS10 and MS20 monosynths of the 70's, the MS2000 gives you four twin oscillator voices. And like the highly sort after KORG Monopoly synth of the early 1980's, the four modelling voices can be combined in Unison mode to make one really big sound.

The B and BR versions came out about a year later and included a new set of sounds and an improved goose neck mic.

Main Features
Analog Modelling System - The MS2000/MS2000R provide two oscillators per voice with a choice of up to eight types of oscillator algorithms, including waveforms of analog synthesizers. There is also a special Digital Waveform Generator System (DWGS) that was first used on the KORG DW8000 synths in the 1980's which allows a single cycle digitally generated waveform to be assigned to the first oscillator. Sixty-four DWGS waveforms are available that include Analog sounds and Electric Pianos, Guitars, Basses and Bells. There are of course the usual analog features such as ring mod, oscillator sync & cross modulation and a noise generator.

Total Front Panel Control - With the front panel featuring many control knobs, the MS2000/MS2000R can be easily edited with out the need to learn difficult edit modes or menu systems. Nearly all sound editing parameters can be accessed from the front panel knobs and switch making sound creation very intuitive.

Phat Filter - The filter is a multi-mode filter that can switch between 24dB & 12 dB lowpass modes and bandpass and highpass modes. In addition, it has its own ADSR envelope generator and a resonance control that allows self-oscillation.

Virtual Patch Function - Not only EG and LFO, but also velocity and keyboard tracking can be used as modulation sources, and assigned to parameters that make up the sound, giving you even more freedom to create sound.

Mod Sequence - Mod sequence is a step sequencer that lets you apply time-varying change to sound parameters in a way similar to analog synthesizers of the past.

External Inputs - A waveform can be connected in to the AUDIO IN 1,2 jacks and process in the same way as the internal waveforms.

Vocoder - By connecting a mic to the AUDIO IN 1,2 jacks the MS2000/MS2000R can be used as a four-voice vocoder. In addition to using two 16-bank filter sets to simulate the vocoder sounds of classic equipment you can create original vocoder sounds by shifting the filter frequency, or adjusting the level and pan of individual frequency bands.

Arpeggiator - The MS2000/MS2000R provides an arpeggiator that allows you to produce arpeggios simply by holding down a chord. You can choose from six arpeggio types, and also specify the duration and spacing of the arpeggiated notes.

Feature Rich - The MS2000 and MS2000R are housed in stylish metal casings with the MS2000 featuring traditional wooden end blocks and a 44-note light weight velocity sensitive keyboard. The MS2000R can be used equally well in a 19-inch rack or as a desktop module. Both units feature the following voice structure : 2OSCs, 1Filter, 1amp, 2EGs, 2LFOs. *Effects : Delay, Distortion, Chorus/Flanger. *Arpeggiator. *External Audio In : 2. *16-band Vocoder.
